3.5" Floppy Disk Drive Motors

Sankyo motor drive PCB (Mitsumi 3.5" drive)
Only 3 (marked in blue) of the 9 pins are required.
The spindle motor is a fixed speed unit. (300 RPM)
Pin 1 is nearest the outside corner of the PCB.

  2. G (0V)
  3. DI
  4. LED
  5. HD
  6. MODE
  7. VCC (+5V)
  8. IO
  9. MON (connect to 0V to make motor run)

Sankyo stepper motor (Mitsumi 3.5" drive)
This bipolar (4-wire) motor is rated for 5V operation.
It needs to be driven with a sequence of steps.
Each drive coil is approx 25 ohms.
